Wilma Joyce Perry

d. December 17, 2018

Mrs. Wilma Joyce Perry , age 71 born May 29, 1947, of Habersham passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was a member of Stanfield Church of God where Anna Marie and Criss grew up in church together.  Joyce loved church so much and her church family dearly.   Joyce worked at Wynn High School for several years while Anna Marie and Criss attended school there. In later years she worked at Mountain View Nursing Home in LaFollette where she found her true passion of taking care of elderly people.  She truly enjoyed every day spent with the people she cared for there.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Woodrow “Woody” Perry.   She had a passion for cooking and working in the yard.   No one will ever be able to make a fried apple pie like she did. Joyce loved a pretty yard just like Woodrow did.  He would cut the grass like he was vacuuming carpet.  It was perfect!

Joyce is preceded in death by parents, John Canie Glandon and Maude Siler Glandon;  Sisters, Shirley Baird and  Bobbie Sue Green; Brothers,  Gene Glandon, Layton “Smokey” Glandon, Howard Glandon, Walter Glandon, and Darrell "Bo" Glandon.

Joyce’s surviving Sisters are Lois Mason and Ann Bureka and surviving Brother, Everett Glandon.

Joyce is survived by her two children  Anna Marie and Criss. Criss’s partner of 25 years,  David Crowder was thought of as a second Son.   She also thought the world of Teresa Renea Rutherford Collins.   Teresa and husband Scott Collins’ three precious children;  Jason, Derek and Kathryn became the grandkids that Joyce and Woody never had.

Anna Marie and Criss wish to thank John Jay England for his care and patience over the last few years.  John spent time with Joyce going to church and enjoying many dinners with her.  His willingness to help her with her “to do list” was a blessing.  Big hugs to John.   Thanks to the neighbors of Habersham that made everything seem so easy and fun growing up.  The memories will always hold a special place in our hearts.  Thanks to the team at the LaFollette Hospital Rehab Center. We were blown away by the kindness and heart felt love during Mom's stay.

The Family will receive friends from 5-7 on Wednesday, December 19 with a funeral following at Walters Funeral Home Chapel in LaFollette, TN with Bishop Delmus Bruce officiating.

There will be a private graveside service for the family on Thursday at Davis Cemetery.
