William "Wayne" Overton

William “Wayne” Overton age 29 of Jacksboro passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014.  He was a member of Jacksboro First Baptist Church, an Eagle Scout, a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and a graduate of Tennessee Technological University.  He was a well-known and avid Go Kart racer for over 20 years and was well known for his many trophies, championships, and accomplishments.  He proudly represented the number 27 in Kart Racing.  Wayne, along with his Engine Builder, Jerry Welch, enjoyed being a mentor to many others in the racing community.  Preceded in death by Grandparents, Tommy and Leota Overton, and Ed and Hettie Paul, Several Aunts and Uncles.

Survivors: Parents, Tommy and JoAnn Overton; Sister, Heather Overton; Daughter, Harper Overton; Special Friend and Confidant, Kayla Ward; Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, other relatives and friends.

Family and friends may call at their convenience Sunday from 3 to 6 P.M. at Jacksboro First Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service to follow with Rev. Chris Thomas, Rev. Billy Smith, and Rev. Bill Arbo officiating.  Family and friends will meet Monday 10:30 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Powell Valley Cemetery and Memorial Gardens for Graveside Services and Interment.  The family Requests that any special memories of Wayne be written by friends and placed in the Memorial Basket at the church to be shared with Wayne’s family.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to:
