Victor Bradley King (Coach King) passed away November 26th, 2014 at UT Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, LaFollette, Tennessee.

He was the son of the late Ervin Burgess King and the late Ruth Hicks King. Victor was a native son of LaFollette and was born in LaFollette on March 8, 1954. He was a graduate of the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky and received his masters degree at Union College. He spent his life teaching, coaching, and mentoring children. Victor taught and coached basketball for 38 years establishing LaFollette as a “City of Champions” with many championships at LaFollette Middle School, and the winningest record in Campbell County history.

His accomplishments included serving on the TMSAA state rules committee for 18 years without missing a meeting during his service. He also started the Young Republicans Club of Campbell County. He also initiated Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner, which is now a national tradition for the Republican Party.  He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator, using the call sign N4RFV.

During his retirement he worked at WLAF as marketing director and volunteer coached at Campbell County Christian Academy.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Shelley, daughter Katherine Laura Rose Cave, son-in-law Brandon Cave, brothers and sister-in-laws Lynn and Stella King and Phillip and Gail King, Charita Abrams, niece Laura King, nephew Brian King, mother-in-law Rose Bunyea, many cousins, and a host of friends, former students, and ball players whom he loved.

Funeral services will include visitation November 29, 2014 from 12 pm – 2 pm at Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette, Tn. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery with Wayne Patton conducting. Pallbearers are Joe Whited, Brandon Cave, Kevin Coiner, Doug Boshears, Jeff Sweat, and Mike Reynolds, and honorary Lynn King, Tony Heath, James Freeman and Mike Parrott. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Campbell County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 122, Jacksboro, Tn, 37757 or Cancer Research Association at www.cancerresearch.org.  Online condolences for “Coach” King may be made at www.waltersfuneralhome.net.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Victor Bradley King.
