Mr. Steve Edward Rutherford age 54 of LaFollette passed away Monday, January 30, 2017. He was a well-known Teacher, Coach, and Administrator with the Campbell County School System for over 30 years. Mr. Rutherford served as a 1st District County Commissioner, and was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and Union College. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church where he served as Trustee and Adult Sunday School Teacher. Preceded in death by Grandparents, James M. and Dora Lowe Gillette and Thomas Jefferson and Martha Jane Branam Rutherford.
Survivors: Wife, Amanda Smiddy Rutherford; Son, Darrell Douglas and Wife, Whitney; Daughter, Chesney Rutherford; Parents, Homer and Doris Rutherford; Brothers, Richard Rutherford, Marvin Rutherford and Wife, Cathy, and Jason Rutherford and Wife, Heather; Many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins in the Rutherford and Smiddy families, and his Heritage Baptist Church family.
Funeral Services Thursday 7 P.M. at Cedar Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Matherly and Dr. Fred Ward officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday at 10:30 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Powell Valley Cemetery and Memorial Gardens for Graveside Services and Interment with Rev. Don Proffitt officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday before funeral services at the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: Shenandoah Boys Ranch and Haven for Girls, 293 Shenandoah Road, Calhoun, TN 37309.
