Mary Ruth Edwards

Mary Ruth Baird Edwards , age 76, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016. She was a member of Carr's Chapel Baptist Church in Speedwell, Tennessee and attended Grace Baptist Church in Knoxville. She was a successful business woman, working alongside her husband in both insurance and real estate. She also worked in the University of Tennessee system both on the Knoxville campus and in home healthcare in Tazewell, Tennessee. Mary Ruth considered her greatest achievement and richest blessing to be the gift of her children, Bill and Donna. She will be missed beyond what mere words can express, but her children are comforted knowing that she is once again with her beloved husband, Tom and is in the presence of our Almighty God. Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Edwards; parents, Mary Eunice Baird and Eschar Millard Baird; brothers, David Clark Baird and Winston Nolan Baird.

She is survived by her children, William Thomas (Bill) Edwards, II and wife Traci; Donna Edwards Newport; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynne Edwards, Michelle Renee Edwards, and Trey Newport; sister, Sandra Baird Lay of LaFollette; nieces and nephews, Mary Suzanne Lay Gray, Elizabeth Lay White, Mark Lay, John Lay, David Baird Lay, Kimberly Baird Stephenson, Jean Cupp, Darrell Edwards, and Ricky Edwards; and several great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Wednesday with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. Chaplain Dan Hix will officiate.
