Marie Brown Thompson

MARIE BROWN THOMPSON - age 95, of Knoxville, passed away 9:07 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at her daughter's home.

She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and retired from Tennessee Mill and Mine Supply Co. She was an active member of the Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle Senior Saints, the Larry Cox Senior Citizens's Center, and the Oakwood Baptist Church Sunshine Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe L. Thompson; daughter, Brenda Carolyn Thompson; parents, James and Mary Brown; brothers, Ted, James Jr., and George Brown; son-in-law, Stephen Dempster.

Survivors: daughter, Marilyn Elaine Dempster; granddaughter, Shanna Loveday both of Knoxville;  sisters, Elizabeth Lynch and Muriel Brewer both of Knoxville, Irene Stratton of Birmingham, and Shirley Norman of Elk Valley, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend John Dando officiating.

The family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Monday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 2:00 p.m.
