Mrs. Lorene Ford Henegar, 92, of LaFollette, died peacefully at Renaissance Terrace, a skilled nursing facility with a loving and caring staff in Harriman, and returned Home to reunite with her friends and family and be with God on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Lorene will join and rejoice in Heaven with her husband and World War II veteran, Victor Henegar, and many other relatives and friends. She is survived by her son and daughter, Allen Henegar and special and loving friend Pam Lawson of Knoxville, and Doris Griffin and husband Guy of Oak Ridge; granddaughter and husband Holly and Kevin White of Knoxville and their children Darcie and Brodie; grandson and wife Kevin and Nicole Saylor of Knoxville and their children Kai, Juniper, and Grayson; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lorene was the last surviving child in her family. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Frank and Bertha Lindsay Ford of LaFollette and brothers Charles, Willard, Luther, Winfred, Ulysses and Jonathan Ford and sisters Juanita Ford Miller and Geneva Ford Sharp. She is also preceded in death by daughter-in-law Judie Henegar and son-in-law Lee Saylor.
Everyone knew Lorene as a happy woman who truly lived her life to support and serve others and who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was a devout Christian who followed and lived the teachings of Jesus Christ. Lorene was a faithful member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church where she worshipped since joining the congregation on July 4, 1954. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She last worked for Winkler’s Pharmacy in LaFollette before her retirement in the early 1990s. Lorene enjoyed spending time with her family and her Sunday School friends. She loved gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, sewing and crocheting, and she delighted in cooking and preparing special treats for her family.
Before moving to Renaissance Terrace, Lorene lived the previous two and a half years at Brookdale Senior Living in Oak Ridge where she made many new friends and where the staff was always caring, loving, and supportive. She enjoyed her time there and considered it her home away from home.
Lorene’s family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21, 2017, 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home in LaFollette, and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017, 3 P.M. at Bakers Forge Memorial Cemetery in LaFollette.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials in Lorene’s name be sent to the Joy Sunday School Class (to the attention of Mae Moore) at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, 604 South Indiana Avenue in LaFollette, Tennessee 37766.
