Mrs. Lisa Ann Carey, a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and cherished member of the Katy, TX community, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on August 23, 1966, in Elgin, Illinois, Lisa was the daughter of Charles Edward Crownover and Joyce Sue Welch. Lisa dedicated her life to education, positively impacting countless young minds during her tenure as a teacher at Stephens Elementary in Katy I.S.D in Katy, Texas, for four years. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom as she nurtured a love for learning in her students and colleagues alike.
Beyond her professional life, Lisa was known for her vibrant spirit and love for the colors purple and green. She found joy in the kitchen, delighting in cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Lisa was also a dedicated blogger, sharing her insights and expertise on her platform, "Money Saving Parent." Above all, Lisa cherished her family. She found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones, whether it was sharing stories, reading together, or simply enjoying each other's company. Lisa and her husband, Bryan Carey, shared a love story that began on June 22, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Their love story unfolded into a beautiful lifelong partnership, adorned with the joy of raising four cherished children: Colleen and Grace, their precious blessings, and Devon and Derek, whom Lisa lovingly welcomed from a previous chapter in her life.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Bryan Carey of Katy, Texas; children, Colleen Carey of Katy, Texas, Grace Carey of Katy, Texas, Derek Hauk and spouse Brittany of Dayton, Ohio, and Devon Katheryn Hauk of Dayton, Ohio; parents, Charles and Joyce Crownover of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Charles Davis Crownover of Lawrence, Kentucky; granddaughters, Olive and Emery Hauk; and numerous other relatives and many friends. Family and Friends will meet Sunday, March 17, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for 2:00 P.M. Graveside Service and Interment. Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Lisa Ann Carey.
