Linda J. Price

Linda J. Price, age 80, of LaFollette passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. She was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church. Linda was a strong lady who always faced her battles head-on. A single mom, she attended secretarial school and worked hard to give her daughters a better life than the one she had. She taught them the value of hard work, kindness, and most importantly, the love of Jesus. As a grandmother, she loved and spoiled her only grandson and granddaughter; in her eyes, they could do no wrong. As a secretary at the Jacksboro Vocational School, she was a kind face and a listening ear to those who came through the door, and she met many wonderful people who became her friends for life. As a Sunday School teacher and church preschool director, she told countless Bible stories, changed hundreds of diapers, and served lots of cookies and lemonade, all while teaching the children how much Jesus loved them. As a victim advocate at the District Attorney General’s office, she worked tirelessly to help abused women have a better life for themselves and their children and used her platform to continue to share God’s love. When faced with illness, she fought bravely until the very end and continued her witness, often telling doctors, nurses, and staff, “I have a Father who loves me” and telling them all about her God. She praised Him until her last breath, and we know she is rejoicing in His presence now.

She is preceded in death by Parents, James G. Baird and Etta Mae Baird McKinney; Brothers, Charles Silcox and James “Gene” Silcox; Sisters, Judy Hill, Margaret Chapman, Jo Byrge, Glenna Rayburn, and Jimmie Ogg, and special Brother-in-law, Jess Ogg, Jr.

Survivors: Daughters, Scarlett Johnson (Troy Nelson), Amber Price, and Heather Kelley (Robby); Grandchildren, Jordan Price (Crystal), and Abigail Kelley; Brother, Paul Silcox (Mary); Sisters, Bobbie Coffey and Ann “Georgie” Mefford; Special Sister-in-law Rose Silcox, Dear friends, Alice Bryant, Lisa Clark, and Paul and Loretta Cordell; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, other family members and cherished friends. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Services will begin at 12:00 PM with Bro. Paul Cordell and Pastor Chris Thomas officiating. A private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
