Leroy Braden

Rev. Leroy Braden, age 75 of LaFollette passed away Monday, July 3, 2023.  Rev. Braden began his Ministry in 1981 when he was called to be the Pastor of Myers Grove Baptist Church, and for the next 40+ years, led many area churches until his last Pastorship at Cedar Creek Baptist Church.  Along the way, he had a very successful TV and Radio Ministry, and reached many others through Jail and Nursing Home Ministries.  Rev. Braden was an integral part of an annual foster children fundraiser that would see many children receive winter coats and shoes at Christmas.  He was a also a U.S. Army Veteran, stationed in Korea, was employed for many years with CSX as a track Repairman, and after retirement, served as Chaplain of the Campbell County Honor Guard.  Preceded in death by beloved Wife, Crystal Braden in 2015, Parents, Arvel and Kay Edwards Braden, Brother, James “Butch” Braden, Step-Mother, Parsetta Braden.    

Survivors: Son, Sam Braden and Wife, Talitha; 3 Grandsons, Caleb Blackwell, Jacob Braden, and Kaiden Reed; Great-Granddaughter, Emma Claire Blackwell; Sisters, Bonnie Mildred Tressler, Evelyn Lay, Ruth Lay, and Betty Jane Monday; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral Services Thursday, July 6, 2023, 7:00 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Bryant officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday before funeral services.  Family and friends will meet Friday, July 7, 2023, 9:30 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Powell Valley Cemetery for 10:00 A.M. Graveside Services and Interment.  Military Honors will be conducted by The Honor Guard of Campbell County.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: Campbell County Childrens Center, 203 Independence Lane, LaFollette, TN 37766 or www.campbellcountychildrenscenter.org.  Walters Funeral home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Rev.
