Mr. Gary Edwin (Ed) (Schoolboy) Estes , age 69 of Knoxville passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at Summit View – Farragut. He was born in Hammond, IN in 1949. He professed faith in Jesus Christ at a young age at Valley Grove Baptist Church and is a former member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a pitcher for a Little League baseball team in Knoxville and graduated from Karns High School. After attending Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, he joined the TN Army National Guard where he served six years. He worked nearly 30 years as a service and repair technician at Appalachian Business Machines. Upon his retirement, he delivered medications for Hillcrest Nursing Homes and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed spending Sundays with family in the mountains, watching lightning storms over the beaches, playing pool, NASCAR races, football, and outings with the grandkids. Preceded in death by parents, Wilbur and Juanita Estes.
Survivors include his Daughter, Allison Diane Cross (Kenneth); step-children, Janet Sweeney, Zeb Bussell and Brandy Bussell; Grandchildren, Stewart, Amanda, Terra, Kaleb, Olivia, Jonathan, David, and Trenton; Great-Grandchildren, Samantha, Graylee, Halen, Kyler, Madelyn, and Easton; Sister, Sandra Estes Turner; Nephew, Scott Turner (Denise), Niece, Rachel Turner Clucas (Heath).
Family and friends will meet Thursday 10:45 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Campbell Memorial Gardens for graveside services and interment with Rev. Bill Braden officiating.
