Carlena Louise (Lay) Barker

Carlena Louise (Lay) Barker left her earthly home on Saturday, January 20, 2024, with her beloved husband of 64 years by her side. She was 84 years of age. Carlena lived most of her adult life in Vandalia, OH but LaFollette, TN was her home after moving here upon their retirement. She always had a bright smile ready for everyone she met, as she never met a stranger.  If she did not know them when they met, she would soon be calling them a friend. She enjoyed spending time on the lake, taking rides with her husband and socializing and talking with her many friends at the Back Door Café.

She is preceded in death by son, Roger Barker, mother, Gladys Chambers, stepfather, Dave Chambers, sister, Helen Dexter, brother, Douglas Lay, and brother-in-law, Tom Dexter.

She is survived by her Husband, Randall Barker; 2 nephews and 1 niece; close family friend, Jane Holmes; and a host of other friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel, with funeral services beginning at 2:00 P.M.  Interment to follow at Powell Valley Cemetery.  Pallbearers: Tommy Dexter, Jr., Tommy Dexter, III, Dillion Burleson, Vincent Szmansky, Damien Szmansky, and David Wormsley. Honorary Pallbearer, Gary Evans.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Carlena Louise (Lay) Barker.
