Mrs. Betty Anne Sharp Schmid age 97 of Knoxville, formerly of LaFollette passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022.  Betty Anne was raised in the Sequoyah Hills community and after her first Husband’s passing, eventually returned to Knoxville to live.  She was a long-time member of LaFollette First Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed all aspects of nature, feeding the birds, working in her flower garden, and was happiest being a vital part of her children and grandchildren’s lives.  Betty Anne loved animals, especially her loyal dog, Honey.  She assisted with founding the first animal shelter in Campbell County at Ivey Dale in the early 80’s.  She attended the University of Tennessee was formerly employed with the University of Tennessee in the Treasurer’s Office, and Capital Airlines as a gate agent.  She also assisted her husband, Dick at the Cumberland Wholesale Grocery in LaFollette.  Preceded in death by first husband, Richard A. “Dick” Sharp, and second husband, James D. Schmid, Sr., Parents, William M. Clark, Sr. and Bess T. Clark, Sister, Muriel Spoden and husband Hal, and Brother, William M. Clark, Jr. Brothers-in-law, Bill And Marianne Sharp, Bob and Betsy Sharp and Rob Schmid.

Survivors: Daughter, Bess Janet Stout and Husband, David; Son, Richard A. “Dicky” Sharp, Jr.; Grandchildren, Janet Stout Seiber and Husband, Johnny Mack, Jessica Stout Broyles and Husband, James, Robert A. Sharp, and Shelby K. Sharp; Great-Grandchildren, Tanner and Cooper Seiber, and Logan and Luke Broyles.  Betty Anne was fortunate to have an extended family, with Mr. Schmid: Step-Daughter, Anne Schmid Tidwell and Husband, Tim; Step-Sons, Dr. James D. Schmid, Jr. and wife, Debbie, and Robert M. Schmid and Wife, Linda; Step-Grandchildren, Jake Tidwell, Ellie Tidwell, Rachel Taylor, Laura Berens, Sarah Schmid, and Kelly Wolfenbarger; Step-Great-Grandchildren, Brooke and Addie Taylor, Jacob, and Olivia Grace Berens.  Sisters-in-law, Janet Allen and Carol Schmid.  Nieces and Nephews, Diane Sonne, Clark Spoden and Wife, Nora, Bailey Sharp and Wife, Jane, Elizabeth Henderson and Husband, Woody, Marianne Sharp, and Susan Sharp Campbell.

Funeral Services Saturday, April 16, 2022, 12:00 P.M. at LaFollette First Presbyterian Church (110 West Ash St., LaFollette, TN 37766) with Rev. Susan Sharp Campbell officiating.  Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Saturday before funeral services.  The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: LaFollette First Presbyterian Church, P.O.
